The 105-foot "VIKING STAR" was a steel vessel and her advertising slogan was "You're in good hands with ALLSTEEL".

3TAMPA VI Pin, Brooklyn, NY – 1977 A giveaway pin for the "TAMPA VI" from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY. The pin advertises the "TAMPA VI" as being the world's largest and fasted party boat offering all the newest luxuries available including color TV and air conditioning.
4GAMBLER Advertising Card, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ – 1978 An advertising postcard for Captain Bob Bogan's party boat "GAMBLER" circa 1978. The "GAMBLER" sailed from Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and she was built in 1976 by Lydia Yachts, Stuart, FL. Unlike most Lydia vessels of her era, she has no bow pulpit. The well-maintained "GAMBLER" now sails as Captain Paul Thompson's "PORGY IV" from Cape May, NJ.
5BIG MOHAWK II Advertising Sign, Brooklyn, NY – 1979 This 1979 advertising sign promoted the charter boat "BIG MOHAWK II" from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY. The "BIG MOHAWK II" was the largest charter boat to sail from Sheepshead Bay at the time, and was owned and operated by partners Captain Tony 'Mo' Barbato and Captain Dan Kenny. 6HOLIDAY Advertising Card – 1979 A postcard advertising bluefishing aboard Captain Jack Endean's party boat "HOLIDAY" circa 1979. Lydia Yachts of Stuart, FL built the "HOLIDAY" for Captain Jack in 1974. The well-known Captain Jack owned and operated many party boats during his long career including the "FRISCO", the "DAUNTLESS", the "MISS POINT PLEASANT", the "MISS POINT PLEASANT II", the "RANGER" and a long line of boats all named the "HOLIDAY".

8HAPPY Business Card, Atlantic Highlands, NJ – 1981 The "HAPPY" was the premier half–day party fishing boat from Atlantic Highlands, NJ at the time and Captain Tom Buban manned the helm. Gillikin Boat Works built this wood boat in 1962 at Harkers Island, NC as the "BLUE HERON".

18BROOKLYN BRIDGE Magazine Cover, Brooklyn, NY – 1995 This 1995 copy of Brooklyn Bridge Magazine featured a nice photo of the "BROOKLYN V" from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY. The cover photo illustrated the issue's feature story on how the Sheepshead Bay party boat fleet had changed throughout the years, and despite fewer fish and harsher regulations, had survived the test of time. Alas, the top-notch Brooklyn Bridge Magazine did not survive and is no longer published.

In December 1976, the NEW JERSEY FISHERMAN dedicated an entire issue on this popular and very abundant fish. Today, you would get your name mentioned in the local fishing column just for catching a single fish!
The FISHERMAN magazine started in 1973 and with editions in New England, Long Island, New Jersey and the Mid-Atlantic Region, still publishes fifty issues each year.
