CAPT. RED, Brooklyn, NY – 1975
The "CAPT. RED" from Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, NY circa 1975. Built in 1927 as Captain Frank Swartzbach's "FISHER" from Sheepshead Bay, she became Captain Jackie Michaels' second "AMERICA" in 1948 and sailed from Pier 8 at Sheepshead Bay. Sold again in 1962, she was renamed the "BROOKLYN". In 1971, Captain 'Red' Tanfield and Captain Gerry Nappi purchased the boat and renamed her as the "CAPT. RED". Last sold in 1977, the boat moved to Florida and sailed as the "CAPT. HOOK". She has since been dismantled. Photo courtesy of Captain Gerry Nappi.
