JO-ANN, Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, NY – 1966
The "JO-ANN" was owned by Edward Sarubbi and was one of several smaller open boats to sail from the Tamaqua Fishing Station located at Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, NY. The "JO-ANN" is shown leaving on a fishing trip with a group of orphan children from the now-defunct Mount Loretto Orphanage, Staten Island, NY. Each year, the Tamaqua fleet would sponsor a fishing outing for the orphans living at Mount Loretto. Photo courtesy of Tom Whitford.
