Columbia, Brielle, NJ – 1945 The "COLUMBIA" from Brielle, NJ circa 1945. The 45-foot "COLUMBIA" was built in 1940 by Johnson Brothers Boat Works at Bay Head, NJ. She was originally operated by Captain James Bogan Sr. and then by Captain Jack Bogan and Captain Fred Laub. The "COLUMBIA" had triple 140 HP 6-cylinder gasoline engines when built and could go in excess of 20 knots. These engines were replaced with a single diesel at the start of World War II when gasoline was rationed and became hard to get. The photo is courtesy of Captain Dave Bogan Sr.
