CAPT. APPLEGATE, Atlantic City, NJ – 1974
Gulf Craft built this 77-foot party boat for Captain Andy Applegate in 1974. Notice the 'A' design on the wing supports alongside the wheelhouse. In 1986, the boat was relocated to Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY, where she sailed as Captain Mark Brent's "FRIENDSHIP III". Captain Brent operated her from Sheepshead Bay for a few years and later moved, along with the vessel, to Massachusetts where he began a new venture offering whale-watching tours. She later regained her party boat status when she became the "MOHAWK EXPLORER" from Belmar, NJ. She again changed owners and names when she became Captain Bob Elsey's "NIGHT HAWK" from Belmar, NJ. Sold in 2005, she is now running whale-watching tours as the "MONTEREY PRINCESS" from Monterey, CA. Photo courtesy of Scotty Tibbs II and Gulf Craft Inc.
