PIPER, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ – 1980
Captain George 'Blacky' Walsh's "PIPER" was built by Gillikin Boat Works in 1961 and originally sailed as Captain Frank Green's "QUEEN MARY". Shortly after this photo was taken she became the "SPRAY II" from Belmar, NJ and then became Capt. Hal Hagaman's "SEA TIGER" from Atlantic Highlands, NJ. In 1988, she was remodeled and took on a different look that hid her original Gillikin features. She was sold in 2004 and became the "MISS MOORE" and after that, sailed as the "A.C. LADY" from Atlantic City, NJ. She then became Captain Stewart Cash's "OSPREY IV" from Port Jefferson, NY and last sailed as the "NEVER ENUFF II" from World's Fair Marina, Queens, NY. She was sold in 2012 and sank before she began to sail under her new owner. Photo courtesy of Bill Horan.
