BOBBY II, Belmar, NJ – 1955 The "BOBBY II" back at her berth at Belmar, NJ after she was rammed by the 439-foot, 7,650-ton freighter, "PRESIDENT BUCHANAN" while fishing at the Cholera Banks on April 23, 1955. Thanks to her military construction, which included the now visible double forward crash bulkheads below deck, she fortunately did not sink and was even able to return to Belmar under her own power. Hundreds of people flocked to the Belmar Marine Basin to get a first-hand look at this amazing vessel.
