The following is a list of over 450 local, common and scientific names of the fish species found in the Western Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico waters.  The first column, "Common Name" is what you and I would call a fish.  The middle column, "Accepted Common Name" is the name of the fish used for regulatory, fisheries management and law enforcement purposes.  The third column, "Scientific Name" is the scholarly, taxonomic name for the fish.
